Tips for Engraving

For a wonderful gift or touching personal memento, personalize a piece of Waterford, Wedgwood or Royal Doulton Crystal by adding a name, date and/or personal creative message. To help decide on the right engraving format for your piece of crystal, below are some engraving etiquette tips.

Engraving Monogram Initials

Monograms are always engraved with CAPITAL LETTERS.

One-Person Monogram: When engraving a one-person monogram, the order of letters should read, from left to right - first name initial, last name initial, middle name initial.

Example: Elizabeth Danielle Jones would appear as EJD

Two-Person Monogram: When engraving a two-person monogram, such as a bride and groom's initials, the order of letters should read, from left to right - bride's first name initial, last name initial, groom's first name initial.

Example: Elizabeth & Michael Jones would appear as EJM

Standard font size for all monograms is a 24-point for the first and last letter, while the center letter is a larger size at a 36-point. View Font Size & Style

Engraving Full Names & Messages

When engraving a full name or message, there is a 20-character limit, which includes spaces. Standard font size for all full names and messages is an 18-point for all letters/words. Full names and messages are engraved the exact way entered. Make sure to use the necessary upper or lower case letters as engravers will not adjust words or letters. View Font Size & Style

Engraving Set of Items

For engraved product with multiple pieces like toasting flute pairs and sets of 4 DOF, the same engraved characters and font will appear on all pieces of the set.
